South Korea recently announced that due to the immense addiction that South Korean’s face with video games, the Ministry of Sports, Culture and Tourism are teaming up and going to put a stop to this addiction once in for all. It seems that 2 measures will be taken to stop the gamers from playing which is either place a certain amount of time a gamer can play before the game shuts off or they will make the game lag or slower until the game becomes unplayable
South Korea has announced that it will be doing this to 19 games which represent 79% of all games played in South Korea. If you think these measures are drastic, they have an explanation; South Korean gamers have been playing until exhaustion, starvation, skipping school, violent behavior and death. The recent news is that 2 South Koreans died while playing a gaming marathon and another young child passed away after their parents were too busy raising a “virtual” daughter in the game PRIUS.
I think the drastic measures are necessary to keep the South Korean population…I dont know… alive? The Ministry is going to see if this has any effect on the gamers in South Korea and want to see what type of feedback they receive. So far, they announced it will start in “the 2nd half of this year.” The couple games that are on the list are Maple Story and Maginobi, I also wouldn’t doubt Starcraft in that list as well.

hilarious, lmao… right before starcraft 2 release! but srsly, maybe they should get out more..
